Term 4 Week 3 - Exploring Space

During Science this week, students reflected on their partially completed space models and provided each other with respectful and useful feedback and suggestions to improve their designs. The finished products not only look great but provide an interactive way to communicate their findings about the relative sizes, distances and time measurements between the sun, Earth and Mars. We discussed how our school network is designed to transmit data. Then we brainstormed ideas as to what digital system components are needed to set up a communications and data network between Earth and Mars to transmit different types of data to a range of users with varying levels of access. Great discussion!

We are all excited about the upcoming Fun Run to raise awareness and funds for Happy Days. The students' cause is being promoted to the wider school community via the class blogs and by students visiting classrooms. This may provide further opportunities for sponsorship.

Term 4 Week 2 - Science and Buddies

In Science, students are collaborating to make a model of the Sun, Earth (Moon) and Mars that explains their scientific thinking and research about the key features and relationship between these celestial bodies in a multimodal format.

Students loved spending time with their Buddies today. They chose 3 picture books during library time to read with their buddies. A short time of free play was a nice way to end this session. Year 6 are planning to work together with their buddies to compose and illustrate picture book story on Friday afternoons this term.

Term 4, here we come!

We've had a wonderful first week back! Today was especially exciting with students enjoying lovely calm surfing conditions at Palm Beach. On Thursday, author Jack Heath shared his writing wisdom with Year 5 and 6 students from both campuses. He provided valuable models and tips that students can easily access and try to improve their story writing. The whole school also celebrated St Luke's day via a livestream session. We welcomed Samuel Freer to our class at the end of Term 3.

Bayview's Got Talent submissions are open and the final date for entries is Friday 6 November. The Flyer and link are Bayview's Got Talent Flyer and Bayview's Got Talent Website Link.
